Change for Change

Change for Change is our program of converting the goodwill of our guests (tips) to goodwill for the larger community (donations). We choose a different non-profit every 1-3 months (depending on the season). Thanks to the generosity of our visitors we are able to donate  over a thousand dollars each year. Hopefully, we will also be able to spread the word about these great groups to a broader audience. We hope you will check them out.

This month's recipient

Central Asia Institute/Pennies for Peace

We did this one the year before last and are very happy to bring it back. We do this one in conjunction with Sebastian’s school, Stove Prairie. The kids began collecting pennies last month and more than doubled the first year’s collection. We will join in for the month of April and see if we can catch up with the kids! Sebastian also has a penny jar set up at the winery to increase his classroom’s contribution in hopes of winning the interclass competition for April. We hope you can help us with this worthy cause!

The mission of Central Asia Institute (CAI) focuses on community-based education in countries like Pakistan and Afganistan, especially for girls. A 5th grade education for girls improves not only the basic indices of health for her and her family, she will also spread the value of education within her community. Literacy, for both boys and girls, provides better economic opportunities in the future and neutralizes the power of despot mullahs and other extremist leaders.

Pennies for Peace educates American children about the world beyond their     experience and shows them that they can make a positive impact on a global scale, one penny at a time. Pennies for Peace teaches children the rewards of sharing and working together to bring hope and educational opportunities to children in Pakistan and Afghanistan .
